Workshops Taught By INDUSTRY VETERAN, PORTIA SCOTT-HICKS
of PoSH VOICES
Portia Scott-Hicks Bio
Portia Scott-Hicks has always had a passion for the entertainment
industry. A native Los Angeleno, Portia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree
in Theatre from California State University, Long Beach. Portia then set
her goals higher and moved to New York City, where she garnered A Master
of Arts in Theatre from New York University's famed Circle in the Square
Theatre School. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Portia produced, and co-wrote,
and starred in her own one-woman show, The Secret Diary of Sandra Woodward.
This "Secret" wasn't a secret for long, and burgeoned into a
one-woman show-biz extravaganza. After receiving public acclaim and success
with the show, work in television and film continued to flourish.
Then came the truly unexpected opportunity: Portia was
asked to cast a TV show "Could it be a Miracle" (an early entrant
in the now-ubiquitous genre of "Reality TV"), starring Robert
Culp (3 seasons, 78 episodes). So began a career as a Casting Director.
Portia went on to cast various independent films.
Propelled by her growing reputation with industry notables
about town, Portia was subsequently offered a position at Cunningham,
Escott, Dipene (CED) Talent Agency in the Young Talent Division, where
she ran the Voice-Over Department for over four years. During this time
Portia's knowledge of and excitement about the industry in general and
the world of Voice-Over in particular continued to blossom. By the time
of her departure from CED, she had assembled an enviable roster of talent
and contacts and was now ready to open and run her own Voice-Over company,
Portia Scott-Hicks-
PoSH VOICES.
